Alta and Zimmermann Turn the Runway Into a Virtual Dressing Room
October 25, 2026
ALTA x Zimmermann bring you the Spring RTW 27 Show, straight from Paris
On October 5, Zimmermann presented its Spring RTW 27 collection, Kaleidoscope, in Paris. Within minutes of the show, the collection appeared inside Alta, where users could virtually try on runway looks on their personalized Alta Avatars – months before Kaleidoscope arrives in stores and online in January 2027.
As part of an official partnership between Alta and Zimmermann, a dedicated shelf in Alta’s Discovery tab gives users access to the collection before it’s available to purchase, try on full looks, and even style individual Zimmermann pieces with clothing from their own wardrobes.
Typically, a several-month-long gap separates the runway and the point of sale. With this partnership Alta and Zimmermann build a new type of consumer experience. Thousands of members of the Alta community are now trying on the collection each day and sharing their looks across social media. At this stage, the experience is simply about discovery, imagination and understanding whether a piece belongs in their world.
From watching fashion to participating in it
Fashion has become dramatically more accessible to watch. Shows that were once reserved for buyers, editors and a small group of clients now circulate globally within seconds through livestreams, runway platforms and social media.
But access to the experience of a runway collection remains limited.
Alta’s collaboration with Zimmermann takes a step forward to fully immerse the consumer inside a collection. Collections can benefit from this interactive styling, worn across thousands of Alta Avatars, and social sharing immediately after the show.
Why Zimmermann
Founded in Sydney in 1991 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, the label began with Nicky designing garments and selling them at Sydney’s Paddington Markets. From those beginnings, Zimmermann developed a distinctive aesthetic built around sophisticated femininity, color, print, swim and resortwear.
Its Spring 2027 collection, Kaleidoscope, was presented at Le Carreau du Temple during Paris Fashion Week. Creative director Nicky Zimmermann built the collection around ideas of strength, movement and transformation, drawing inspiration from butterflies and historical scientific illustrations held by the Australian Museum. The pieces themselves are fashioned in butterfly motifs, dimensional appliqué, flowing silhouettes, botanical prints, lace and sculptural movement throughout the collection.
Discovery begins before the collection is available
A physical front row will always be limited by geography and capacity. But a digital fashion experience does not have the same constraints. A show can happen in Paris, and minutes later someone thousands of miles away can experience the collection through their own identity.
